I see the light - I say unto myself, the morning light, the sun now breaking through those clouds, through the edge the earth has shaped for me today and yet, it is the light that lets me see without which I would never see or know, or sense the bright new day. I breathe in air I trust, inspired and stern, the air that moves or stays, is always there letting my sense, my organs and myself, absorb a little knowledge of itself and yet, it is the air that lets me breathe without which I could never breathe or know, or sense this deep new breath. I live the life I thrive in, nurture and cajole, the life that carries through in days and nights, does not leave out the air, the light, not for a moment would that I them lack, that I survive without, or even try and yet, it's life that lets me live, that lets me spy the next daylight that breathes, and ceaseless, saves the life I have.
It is a lovey sweet smelling poetry, reminds me of Genesis chapter 1: there was light and there was life: In Christ’s name. The creation now is the mirror reflection of immortality, life and walking in the light.
This poem feels like someone waking up and suddenly noticing how the world quietly takes care of them.
You can sense the softness in the way the speaker talks about light, almost like it’s a gentle hand on their shoulder.
There’s something really warm in how they describe air not just as something to breathe, but as something that stays with them.
It feels like they’re rediscovering the basics of being alive, the things we forget to appreciate.
The repetition gives the poem a calm rhythm, like breathing in and out on a peaceful morning.
I love how the speaker admits how dependent we are on these simple gifts, without shame or fear.
It reads like someone stepping outside and realizing the world is quietly rooting for them.
There’s a tenderness in the way life itself is treated as something that holds them up.
By the end, it feels less like a poem and more like a quiet moment of gratitude.
It makes you want to pause, breathe, and notice the light around you too.
